Koufos and the NBA Draft very Unclear
Last year at this time everyone in the know and even those
that were not so much knew who the first two players would be in the 2007
draft. It was going to be OSU's C 1.
Greg Oden and the SF from Texas
Kevin Durant 2nd. This year, the ping-pong balls were mysteriously
manipulated to give the Chicago Bulls the first choice. The problem is that no
one, not even the Bulls are sure who will make the call let alone the name that
will be picked.

Derrick Rose
Right now,
the betting public has the Bulls picking Derrick Rose PG from Memphis.
That would let them trade current starter Kirk Hinrich for players or
future picks. Hinrich is attractive
because he is signed through 2010-2011 and is making a little over 3 million a
year. According to ESPN's NBA draft
analyst Chad Ford calls Rose “a 6-4 version of LeBron James.” Enough said.
Michael Beasley
That would
leave Michael Beasley
F Kansas
State for Miami.
Miami
needs scoring badly. Beasley is a
scoring machine. Defense, well let's
just say he recognizes the word but is not really good friends with the
concept. The downside of MB is that some
scouts have questioned his work ethic and he is only 6-7 rather than the 6-10
that was listed in the K State program.
Kosta
This draft
is not as deep in “can't miss blue chip” athletes as some former drafts have
been. However, it has 15-20 guys that
should become legitimate NBA starters.
One of those close to our hearts is Kosta Koufos
C Ohio
State. Most mock drafts show him going between 14th
and the 20th pick. He came
into 2007-08 college season the top center prospect in the minds of most
scouts. He has been pushed down a little
by the entry of Anthony Randolph, Brook Lopez, and Kevin Lowe but Kosta might
be the second best C in the draft.
Based on
what I saw this past year, Randolph
is a little more polished than Kosta but both of them have the ability to
become one of the top centers in the NBA east.
That position is fairly vacant at the current time. There are a lot of teams that need
centers. Some Cav's fans are hoping that
Kosta lasts until we pick at 19.
We will all
know at about 11 PM next Tuesday.
