Kosta Koufos had a very good
but not great season for the Buckeyes this year. Based on that season, he would likely be a
late first round pick. However, by
staying at least one more year, he could become a lottery pick. He has good quickness and is a solid
offensive player. He needs to rely on
technique because he is not as quite athletic as some NBA teams would
like. Like almost every college big man,
he needs to work on defense and rebounding.
He has a couple of areas he needs to work on.
The only serious area of improvement
for Koufos is strength. Looking at Oden
last year, it was clear that he had an NBA body. Oden looked like a 30 year old man with a 19
year old love of the game. Koufos must
get physically stronger to be able to take the banging that is required of an
NBA center or power forward.
Another
year of college would give Kosta the basketball awareness he needs to move up
in the draft. A couple of NBA draft
sites have Kosta listed as “probably returning” to the Buckeyes. Here is one more vote for that choice. I look forward to watching Kosta lead the
Bucks on another run for a Big 10 title.
