Terrelle Pryor pleased millions of Buckeye fans on Wednesday afternoon when he decided to play for the Scarlet and Gray. The fact that he feels comfortable already with the new recruits and Tressel is a huge step. It was monumental that Ohio State landed Pryor for many reasons. He hasn’t even played one game, yet we beat Michigan at something else; recruiting the best players in America.
Many were unsure where Pryor would end up, although most were sure it was between only Ohio State and Michigan. With Rich Rodriguez headed north with his spread-zone-read offense which he made famous with Pat White and Steve Slaton, Pryor was surely headed to Ann Arbor to be the centerpiece. As did Appalachian State, Pryor shocked Michigan fans. Many of them are now saying that he is overrated and it isn’t a big deal that Michigan couldn’t land him. Sounds like jealousy. Saying that it isn’t a big deal is true denial, and is like saying that it isn’t a big deal that the Michigan Seniors couldn’t beat the Buckeyes in all four tries.
Pryor is a very talented athlete. He will have an immediate impact in 2008, although probably won’t get a start, but Coach will ultimately decide that. Tressel will throw him in there some way. Pryor has been clear about not red shirting. Even if he plays a Tebow-type role as a Freshman, he could be very dangerous with his sub- 4.3 speed. Just the fact that defenses will have to pay extra attention to him will make him a decoy in some plays, even with Boeckman at QB.
Buckeye Nation thanks and welcomes you, Terrelle Pryor. You made the right choice in picking the best program and University in the nation. Is it fall yet?
